Plastics Process Engineer

What You’ll Do

Your future starts here! A Plastics Process Engineer at Royal will support production with any processing issues that occur during their scheduled shift. We will look to you to optimize our manufacturing processes, improve efficiency and ensure product quality. Based out of our Corporate Grove facility in Hudsonville, this position reports directly to the Technical Manager.
Note: This position is not available for visa sponsorship.

Schedule:

Royal is flexible as to what shift this individual works. Training will take place on 1st shift for 2-4 months, based on experience. Once trained, you’ll move to your desired shift below.  
Monday-Friday
  • 4pm-12am
  • 12pm-8pm
  • 4am-12pm
Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday
  • 12pm-12am
  • 10am-10pm
  • 4am-4pm

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot process issues and lead efforts to reduce scrap
  • Work within a cross-functional team including maintenance, tooling, and production management 
  • Participate and lead improvement project teams that are geared towards improving operational performance
  • Participate in Corporate initiatives to support cost reductions, quality improvements, and standardization
  • Coach and support training and development of the site supervisors

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of injection molding experience is required
  • Successful candidate is highly hands on and utilizes a logical problem solving methodology
  • Experience using DOE’s and other statistical tools for problem solving
  • Knowledge and utilization of scientific and decoupled molding practices
  • Strong written communication skills to communicate technical solutions to the team members
  • Display the capability to manage multiple projects with little supervision 
  • Experience developing robot programs a plus
  • Experience with gas assist and 2 shot molding a plus
  • Experience with RJG Edart/CoPilot systems a plus
