What You’ll Do
Passionate about helping an organization win with their people and in the marketplace - join Royal’s HR Team as a HR Specialist (Benefits). This role is uniquely scoped with 70% of time dedicated to helping manage our benefits and leave initiatives, for all of our facilities, including processing all FMLA, STD/LTD and workers compensation claims. In times where claims are low, you will flex support to our recruitment team, alongside any other projects and duties within our greater HR team. We are looking for someone who has a strong attention to detail, a passion to assist and engage with internal and external customers and who is eager to be a culture carrier of Royal via their customer service skills. Based out of our Royal Center Corporate facility in Hudsonville,MI, this position reports to the Compensation, Benefits and HR Compliance Leader.
Responsibilities:
Orientation (15%) - Enable a key moment that matters for our new hires, serving to set the tone for successful employment, pride and retention at Royal.
- New Hire Orientation - Onboarding administration and program management.
- Lead for Hudsonville and drive experience and content alignment across regions.
Benefits Program Administration (15%)
- Employee benefits focal for all regions ( Cullman AL, Hudsonville MI, Mission TX)
- Serve as main contact for all benefits Q&A, alongside onboarding, life changes, off boarding and unemployment cases.
- Help connect employees to affiliate support and serve as resource for complex situations
Leave Administration & ADA Accommodations (20%)
- Full-cycle leave administration: Review, approve, track, re-certify all while ensuring compliance working with: employees, managers, HR managers, medical offices, etc.
Benefits Program Quality & Cost Optimization (20%)
- Engagement with providers / ASR to serve as a wise and advised consumer of healthcare for our employees
- Ongoing reporting, analytics and education, driving toward benefits strategy and plan optimization.
- Benefits bench-marking - all regions
- Work alongside Benefits Leader for annual benefits evaluation and change proposals.
- Serve as Open Enrollment lead
Other HR Duties as Needed (30%)
- Hourly production recruitment, intern and summer student program administration
- Updating handbook, procedures, policies
- Training Administration, grants, Apprenticeship, tuition reimbursement program administration
- Plant HR support
- HRIS and HR workflow for process and system optimization
- HR reports, data visualization, and analytics for continuous improvements.
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years HR Benefits experience, required

Bachelors in Business, HR, or related field, preferred

Strong knowledge and experience with FMLA claims, ADA, and related federal and state regulations

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to travel within the US - likely not more than 3 times per year
