What You’ll Do
Your future starts here! The Quality Engineer is is the frontline owner of our manufacturing excellence and customer trust. Based out of our Cullman, AL facility, this position reports directly to the Quality Manager. This role requires a driven, adaptable problem-solver who can navigate complex manufacturing challenges, de-escalate customer concerns, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary technical liaison between the organization and our customers, managing communication with clarity and professionalism
- Manage and maintain customer scorecards, ensuring performance expectations are understood and met
- Travel to key customer locations for improvement activities and rapid issue resolution
- Manage issue-containment efforts both at customer locations and within the organization
- Handle confrontation, de-escalating concerns while driving resolution
Continuous Improvement, Root-Cause Analysis, and Problem-Solving:
- Drive robust root-cause analysis to promptly address and resolve issues with customers and internal processes.
- Apply critical thinking to analyze complex quality problems and own the development and implementation of effective preventive solutions.
- Lead, drive, and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency, ensuring all action items are driven to closure.
- Actively lead internal problem-solving activities, providing decisive guidance and hands-on coaching to drive engagement and accountability within cross-functional teams.
Technical Support for Production and Launch Activities:
- Own and manage safe launch activities, performing data-driven risk assessments, driving collaboration with cross-functional teams, and spearheading all corrective actions to closure.
- Lead production sign-offs (PSO), facilitating a clear and accountable hand-off from engineering to the plant.
- Proactively lead and support trials following any tool repair or changes, ensuring clear communication of outcomes and next steps to all stakeholders.
- Support Quality Technicians in tasks such as gauge management, part and process measurements, and new launch activities.
- Assist in quality training for the organization, ensuring adherence to quality standards and procedures.
- Play a key role in internal auditing activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in Layered Process Audits across multiple shifts to maintain quality standards
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field preferred -- we value demonstrable capability and impact over formal credentials, and will consider acombination of education, training, and/or work experience in lieu of a degree
- Proven track record in a manufacturing environment; injection molding or automotive industry experience is a strong advantage
- Resilient and adaptable -- you thrive in dynamic environments and can pivot rapidly during tool repairs, production trials, or shifting customer demands
- High accountability -- you take ultimate ownership of quality outcomes, whether managing issue-containment or leading Layered Process Audits
- Exceptional communicator -- you can translate complex engineering data into clear, actionable communication for both shop-floor teams and external customers
- Ability to handle confrontation with high acumen in communication strategies and emotional intelligence
- Willing and able to travel on short notice and occasionally overnight
- Proficiency in utilizing standard quality tools and documentation, including but not limited to:
- SPC
- MSA
- FMEA
- Control Plans
- Six Sigma methodologies
- APQP
- PPAP with familiarity in ISO9001/IATF16949 standards
- If you are highly analytical and driven but lack proficiency in specific IATF16949 or VDA 6.3 frameworks, we will train the right candidate
