Key Characteristics for a Royal Trainer
- Good Communication Skills: Trainers should foster a learning environment in which new team members feel comfortable. Such an environment depends on the trainer’s ability to create open lines of communication. Trainers must be not only able to explain tasks and procedures clearly, they must also know how to listen actively and be sensitive to the importance of body language and nonverbal communication.
- Good Organizational Skills: The ability to balance various responsibilities and manage time. Take mental and written notes during the training to be able to follow up and improve either the curriculum or the new team members training experience.
- Job Knowledge: The trainer needs to be an expert in regards to the curriculum. They will be a certified trainer, but they also need to be a champion for making sure the curriculum matches the job requirements.
- Leadership: They are an advocate for and model the Royal Values. The trainer sets the example for the new team members and is not afraid to address situations where the actual performance in the bay is different than the training curriculum. The trainer works to ensure we are doing what we teach!
