Plant Controller / Cost Accountant

What You’ll Do

Royal is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Plant Controller / Cost Accountant to manage, analyze, and report on the standard costs of our manufactured goods. This role is critical in ensuring accurate inventory valuation, validating production transactions, and providing key financial insights to management. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and intercompany accounting procedures.

Overall Responsibilities:

New Item Launch & Take Overs    

  • Review and validate Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing setups for new products.
  • Execute cost rollups and comprehensive reviews for new items. 
  • Confirm customer pricing and manage intercompany (Interco) pricing structures, as required.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to confirm Work Center and Routing setups for tool moves, establishing new Work Centers as needed.                                         

Intercompany Customer Pricing & Supplier Pricing Review            

  • Manage and maintain finished goods pricing based on established files (FGP)
  • Set standard costs for raw materials and subs, conducting ongoing maintenance for new part additions and performing an annual price update based on standard cost revisions. 
  • Review of subcontract sell and buy-back pricing models.

Time Sensitive Responsibilities:                                    

  • Validate and review all financial transitions generated from production activities (Weekly)    
  • Reconcile inventory in transit between manufacturing sites. (Monthly)
  • Manage the close process for intercompany AR and AP. (Monthly)
  • Finalize production order accounting closures. (Monthly)
  • Perform detailed validations comparing subsystem reports to the General Ledger (GL) amounts. (Monthly)
  • Conduct variance analysis, review significant discrepancies, and report findings to management. (Monthly)                                                        

Annual Standard Cost Update                                    

  • Lead the annual standard cost update cycle within the simulated cost environment. 
  • Gather current raw material costs from various manufacturing sites to determine and set new materials standards.
  • Collaborate with CFM Manager to establish and set new regional labor rates and machine rates, leveraging the previous 12 months of financial data.     
  • Update all relevant Work center rates (machine/foam/assembly/crew combinations).
  • Perform comprehensive cost rollups in the simulated cost set, comparing them against prior year standards.
