What You’ll Do
The
Launch Quality Manager is responsible for leading the Launch Quality team in the deployment of Royal Technologies’ Quality Management System and the development of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation. This is executed to ensure alignment with customer quality standards and facilitate successful new product launches. This role reports to the VP of Engineering and is based out of our Hudsonville, MI corporate office.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision to the Launch Quality Assurance team to develop APQP documentation in alignment with the Royal Technologies Quality Management System (QMS) and external customer requirements to achieve critical project milestones.
- Ensure a high standard of work quality and optimize operational performance to meet key launch quality metrics.
- Cultivate relationships with key customer contacts to facilitate effective communication, gain an understanding of critical customer objectives, and ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction throughout the launch process.
- Report to Royal Technologies leadership regarding the status of new product development launch activities.
- Serve as the champion for addressing customer quality concerns throughout the launch process.
- Drive the execution of structured problem solving processes across the organization.
- Support IATF16949 and customer quality audit activities.
- Manage the PFMEA standards library and drive the application of the PFMEA review process across the organization.
- Employ a growth mindset to develop team members, enhancing their skills to effectively address new and increasingly complex challenges.
- Drive systemic improvements to the QMS to continuously enhance processes and procedures, thereby reducing quality escapes and mitigating risks.
- Collaborate with business partners to foster a continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or quality engineering (or equivalent) preferred
- 10+ years of engineering experience required
- Automotive product launch experience required
- Direct knowledge of QMS, APQP, and PPAP processes required
- Thorough understanding of IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements and processes.
- Extensive experience understanding technical documents and specifications, product drawings, and GD&T.
- Ability to lead a team through the PFMEA review process to identify potential failure modes, assess risk, and drive appropriate reaction plans / countermeasures.
- Strong natural leadership capabilities
- Previous experience managing a team is ideal
