Lab Technician, 1st shift

OVERVIEW OF ROLE 
The lab technician will be responsible for performing layout hand checks using calipers, height gages, gage pins, dedicated gages, etc. for all engineering layout activity.  This role will also create GOI's, manage and perform gage calibrations, as well as scan parts when requested by the engineering or quality team.  The fast-paced environment in the lab requires significant multitasking and strong organizational skills.

 
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Perform part measurements using the following tools: calipers, gage pins, height gages, micrometers, customer-dedicated gauges/holding fixtures, SPC gages
  • Execute 1st article inspections
  • Execute capability studies
  • Perform gage R&Rs to ensure accuracy and repeatability
  • Perform part scans using Faro arm
  • Create and update gage operating instructions
  • Execute timely and professional communication with internal and external partners
  • Partner with external vendors as needed for gage calibrations
  • Take ownership of gage calibrations using GageTrak software
 
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 1 year of quality experience (visual inspection and dimensional measuring)
  • GD&T and print reading experience desired (training offered)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to efficiently work between multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working on a computer (proficient in Word/Excel/email)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • In good standing in current role (no active written warnings)
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Alternating between seated and standing work
  • Bending, twisting, and rotating as needed to manipulate parts for analysis
