Royal University Technical Training Manager

What You’ll Do:

The Technical Training Manager role is responsible for leading Royal University capability by developing, implementing, and maintaining the comprehensive injection molding technical training curriculum. This role ensures team member development through the consistent delivery of high-quality training, ongoing assessment and mentoring that  enhances the technical skills and knowledge of our workforce, contributing to improved operational efficiency and performance. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in plastics processing engineering, coupled with a passion for teaching, coaching and leadership. This position requires collaboration with leadership and the HR team to support technical talent pipeline development, talent acquisition and technical talent program management. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development & Management: Design, develop, and update technical training curricula for key molding roles within the company ensuring alignment with industry best practices and business operational needs. Maintain and organize all training materials, including manuals, presentations, and online resources.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct engaging and effective training sessions utilizing a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, and online learning platforms. Adapt training delivery to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels.
  • Needs Assessment: Regularly assess the technical training needs of department process technicians and molding set-up technicians (ie supervisors and utilities) through observation, feedback, and performance analysis. Identify skill gaps and develop targeted training programs to address them.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the HR team to support the technical talent pipeline, including participating in recruitment efforts, developing onboarding programs for new technical hires, and evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including trainees, supervisors, and management.
  • Performance Evaluation: Develop and implement methods for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and measuring the impact on employee performance. Analyze data and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Mentorship & Coaching: Provide mentorship and coaching to talent to reinforce learning and support their professional development. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.Mentoring and coaching extends post Royal University to ensure ongoing development of our team members and the application of skills in real-world scenarios.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in plastics processing and training methodologies. Incorporate relevant information into training programs to ensure they remain current and effective.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Plastics Processing or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years of injection molding experience is required
  • Proven experience as a Lead Plastics Processing Engineer.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and lead individuals and groups.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • Experience using DOE’s and other statistical tools for problem solving
  • Knowledge and utilization of scientific and decoupled molding practices
  • Strong written communication skills to communicate technical solutions to the team members
  • Display the capability to manage multiple projects with little supervision 
  • Experience with RJG Edart/CoPilot systems 
  • Experience developing robot programs 
  • Experience with gas assist and 2 shot molding a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work 1st shift Monday-Friday with a limited flex schedule
