Materials Planning Manager

What You’ll Do

Planning Manager at Royal is responsible for overseeing all inbound materials replenishment. This role involves tracking and identifying purchasing trends, including forecasting, obsolescence, service, balance outs, excess inventory, and shortages. The Planning Manager will communicate purchasing and supply chain information with Strategic Sourcing Managers and the Materials and Purchasing Director, complete and communicate necessary MIS forms, and champion best practices while supporting sourcing analysis, problem-solving, coaching, and mentoring. Reporting to the Sourcing Manager, this position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Hudsonville, MI. 

Responsibilities:

  • This role will be an active manager in the areas of planning, scheduling and  inventory accuracy.  Includes execution of processes, investigating discrepancies, developing corrective actions, with an understanding of business impacts of decisions.
  • Actively purchase critical Resin Materials across all regions 
  • Coach and mentor team
  • Coordinate procurement of material to match demands; communicate with suppliers our requirements and forecast.
  • Manage all launch purchases to SOP, to ensure successful inventory levels for sample and Pre productions runs, will ensure materials make it to the correct plant on time and in full after sampling in Hudsonville.
  • Drives continuous improvements on daily processes and tactical projects, including performing root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for problems across Supply Chain 
  • Develop, optimize and integrate detailed business schedules, (supplier plans and replenishment models) in a lean environment, to achieve the business goals.
  • Understand and communicate value steam and/or supply chain capacity and constraints.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external business partners to include suppliers, supervisors and team leads, logistics/warehouse groups and material planners.
  • Active problem solving skills to help manage red alert situations, escalation process and implementing corrective actions on issues to help mitigate future supply disruptions.
  • Utilize lean tools and other business processes such as Kanban, planning surge tools, value stream mapping and A3 thinking

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Management preferred
  • 5 plus years with work in a ERP (QAD) systems and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team in a matrix organization
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of people
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time - regional sites in TX/AL
